Leg infection/swollen foot?

i got a splinter that got infected and over night i covered it with a sterile gauze pad and wrapped it with an ace bandage, it wasnt that tight but i guess it was too tight because when i woke up my foot is retaining fluid. how do i make the fluid leave. ive had it elevated for most of yesterday and its gone down about 25% but how long can u sit with your foot in the air?ps i saw the dr and got antibiotics, ide like to not to have to go back to the drs because my boss is paying for this
thanks
Answer:
No expert here, but it makes sense to me to drink lots %26 lots of water--an overabundance will force your body to move %26 circulate the excess fluids, thereby getting it back to normal more quickly.? Massage will help with lessening the swelling too. Elevation is standard procedure--should be above your heart level. And there are OTC %26 Rx diuretic pills made to force the fluid out--you'll need to be ready to run empty your bladder frequently! (Lasix, etc.)
