Lateral release?

Has anyone had a lateral release before? My PT suggested it today and it made me freeze up at the mention of surgery. I have had an operation before and was sick from an overdose of anesthesia. If any of you know any infornmation about the lateral release please let me know.

As a sports medicine physical therapist who only sees kids ages 9-18 I have seen numerous patients who have had this surgery. The rehab usually takes around 3 months, but the good news is that if you put a lot of effort into the rehab then the outcome is usually pretty good. Almost all of my patients return to sports without problems after their rehab.
