Late period=ultra sound- what tests?

I know that if your period is a LITTLE late usually it is just not regular but if it like a month or more and you went to the doctor to find out why, would they do an ultra sound? Also, what sort of tests would they do?
Answer:
The first thing they will do is a pregnancy test. If that should come up negative, then they will run some blood tests to try to pinpoint the issue. Sometimes they run ultrasounds as well. An ultrasound is not just used for pregnancies these days. It is a valuable tool for diagnosing other issues. But they try to find the problems through blood work, urinalysis, and any other tests they can first. And sometimes it is a matter of how old you are... you may very well still be young enough for your periods to not be so regular yet. One step at a time my dear.. first see the doctor... and he will tell you what tests he wishes to run. If you aren't sure about the tests, don't be afraid to ask questions... take all the time you need, you are as important as the next person is.
The first thing they would probably do is a pregnancy test, and if that came back negative there are other batteries of tests they'd run based on your symptoms. An ultrasound would only be done if they confirmed you are pregnant, and then only as a baseline after a certain stage of the pregnancy.
It depends how old you are. If you're a teenager, it's normal to not have regular periods. If you're older, they will probably ask you about your stress, what you've been eating, how you've been feeling, what medications you were taking. If they don't find a different reason, they'll try a pregnancy test.
