Long-term CODEINE use...? Is there any way to stop/alleviate bowel damage due to this? (Rather long Q!)?

I have been taking codeine 30mg, for over 10 years due to the pain of 'endometriosis' and have suffered with the associated bowel problems because of this. I have only been able to cut down on the codeine when pregnant, ( my doctor warned against stopping completely, as withdrawal may cause miscarriage).
Lately, I have been suffering horrific bowel cramps, sickness and other horrible symptoms (which I won't go into on here!)
I have been for the 'magic-eye' for the bleeding and pain, (the endometriosis caused the bowel to become 'stuck' to the uterus, and was separated surgically) which was inconclusive, but needs further investigation.
I am afraid to tell the doctor how bad it has got as he may stop giving me the painkillers (yes, looks like I'm addicted).
In the past, the pain has been so bad, the doctors have come out to give me 'anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory injections with morphine'. Today, bad pain again.
I'm scared that I've caused irreversible damage, what can I do
Answer:
I am afraid you are right, you are undoubtedly addicted. Last year warnings about addiction were finally added to the patient leaflets of over the counter packs of pain killers containing codeine.I have been fighting at local practice and at NHS Trust level about the mass prescribing of codeine based analgesics for more than 15 years without any real success. I have already vented my spleen in a number of earlier questions involving this drug.Nearly 80% of all paracetamol containing pain killers are now prescribed as ' Co ', codeine containing, formulations. There are also massive over the counter sales. This is despite many evidence based papers in learned journals, especially the BMJ. These papers all point out that though adding codeine to paracetamol does increase its analgesic potency by a modest 5%, its risks outweigh its benefits. It is addictive, produces severe constipation, headache ( called codeine headache and well recognised by neurologists) and abdominal pain. Ironically it is often used to treat the last two problems! There is an interesting geographical distribution of prescribing and over the counter purchase of codeine, I believe this demonstrates how its use is governed solely by prescribing habits, rather than clinical need. Prescribing is lowest in England and Wales, (though still huge), Higher in Scotland, Higher in the West than the East and highest in UK in Lanarkshire. (where I practice). To stand any chance you must go and talk to your GP about your problem and get help from him ideally in conjunction with the local community addiction team. This is not your fault, it is the effect of poor prescribing, this addiction to prescription drugs is a far larger problem numerically than that of street drugs and is, I am ashamed to say purely a consequence of how the medical profession prescribes. Most sleeping pill and tranquiler abusers have also been produced in this way, but they have a slightly higher profile than those with your problem.I apologise for using your unfortunate question to get on to one of my many soap boxes, but the medical profession as a whole, rather than your GP, who is just following current practice, which I believe is wrong, are to blame, and they owe it to you to help you out of it.
I would say you need to be weaned off the codiene, it bungs you up so sudden withdrawal will cause IBS type symptoms which its sounds like you have. I am surprised they have left you on it for so long as it is so addictive, you made need to go on a mild sedatitive to help you along the way.
codeine phoshate causes constipation a known side affect
I would of thought that after 10 years and still in pain you would need something stronger
it is only a mild analgesia
tell your doctor your problems and ask for better pain relief with out constipation
It will take a lot of work and patience on your part, but you can help this problem. The first thing you need to do is work on the intestinal problem. Start taking immediately a powdered fiber supplement (no tablets or capsules) use Metamucil. Take this first thing in the morning with a large glass of water, and last thing at night. This is going to start gently moving the intestines. You're going to have to make a change in your diet because that is affecting your intestines. No more fried food, fatty foods, and junk food. You need to give your intestines a rest other then the fiber supplement. For now eat white rice, instant oatmeal, and white bread. This is to calm down the spasms. I know this sounds very harsh, but you have to break the cycle of spasms. I know because I have suffered from exactly what you have. Soluble fiber is the single greatest dietary aid for preventing spasms in the first place, as well as relieving them once they occur. Here's the kicker. Soluble fiber is NOT typically found in foods most people think of as "fiber," such as bran or raw leafy green vegetables. Soluble fiber is actually found in foods commonly thought of as "starches", though soluble fiber itself differs from starch as the chemical bonds that join its individual sugar units cannot be digested by enzymes in the human GI tract. In other words, soluble fiber has no calories because it passes through the body intact. As a general rule, the grain and cereal foods at the top of this list make the safest, easiest, and most versatile soluble fiber foundations for your meals and snacks.[1]Rice
Pasta and noodles
Oatmeal
Barley
Fresh white breads such as French or sourdough (NOT whole wheat or whole grain)*
Rice cereals
Flour tortillas
Soy
Quinoa
Corn meal
Potatoes
Carrots
Yams
Sweet potatoes
Turnips
Rutabagas
Parsnips
Beets
Squash and pumpkins
Mushrooms
Chestnuts
Avocados (though they do have some fat)
Bananas
Applesauce
Mangoes
Papayas (also digestive aids that relieve gas and indigestion)*Please choose a baked-daily, high quality, preservative-free brand. White bread does not mean Wonder. Why is soluble fiber so special? Because unlike any other food category, it soothes and regulates the digestive tract, stabilizes the intestinal contractions resulting from the gastrocolic reflex, and normalizes bowel function from either extreme. That's right 鈥?soluble fiber prevents and relieves BOTH diarrhea and constipation. Nothing else in the world will do this for you. How is this possible? The "soluble" in soluble fiber means that it dissolves in water (though it is not digested). This allows it to absorb excess liquid in the colon, preventing diarrhea by forming a thick gel and adding a great deal of bulk as it passes intact through the gut. This gel (as opposed to a watery liquid) also keeps the GI muscles stretched gently around a full colon, giving those muscles something to easily "grip" during peristaltic contractions, thus preventing the rapid transit time and explosive bowel movements of diarrhea as well. By the same token, the full gel-filled colon (as opposed to a colon tightly clenched around dry, hard, impacted stools) provides the same "grip" during the muscle waves of constipation sufferers, allowing for an easier and faster transit time, and the passage of the thick wet gel also effectively relieves constipation by softening and pushing through impacted fecal matter. If you can mentally picture your colon as a tube that is squeezing through matter via regular waves of contractions, it's easy to see how a colon filled with soluble fiber gel is beneficial for both sides of the IBS coin. As a glorious bonus here, normalizing the contractions of the colon (from too fast or too slow speeds) prevents the violent and irregular spasms that result in the lower abdominal cramping pain that cripples so many.I've enclosed a link to a website that can help you learn how to eat for your condition. Please, please, make an appt. with your dr. and tell him Everything you just typed here (with more details)! If you're having pain, he won't just stop your meds cold turkey, especially after this length of time. You probably don't want to hear this, but you may need another surgery, perhaps a hysterectomy. Please get treatment before you DO cause irreversible damage to yourself. In the meantime, take some stool softeners, eat plenty of fruit. And make that drs appt.!
I'm surprised he hasn't tried to take you off it and put you on something different. There's many painkillers out on the market and some are good and some bad. Darvon was taken for a long time and you can get get it, but it's very easy to OD on that. Why not see another doctor who specializes in gastro-intestinal disorders.
I am surprised your doctor has been prescribing codeine to you for so long. It is no wonder you are addicted. You would be best to try to stop taking these as soon as possible, and maybe try another painkiller if the pain is really bad. You will feel unwell for a while until the codeine leaves your system. In the meantime, please go back to your doctor regarding your endometriosis and tell him you want something done about this now. The pain you are experiencing could actually be more from the endometriosis than from the codeine. I suffered from endometriosis for fourteen years before doctors would actually listen to me. I have since had a hysterectomy, which I feel should have been done a long time ago, and I am now pain free. If you are offered this option you would be best to consider it as enometriosis has a way of returning time after time - as I found out to my cost. The pain, as you know is unbearable, but try not to make it worse for yourself by taking codeine which causes constipation as will add to your suffering. I totally understand what you are going through with this illness and my heart goes out to you. Don't let doctors put you off for any longer - it's you body, tell them you want something done NOW!!. Good luck girl. Hope you get well soon. x
I myself became addicted to solphadeine (which contains codeine) after having back surgery. At one time i was taking 12 tabs of solphadeine a day in conjuction with other strong painkillers.
Two years ago in december i decided to calculate the amount of painkillers i was on per month and it came to a grand total of 635.
I knew i had to do something so i took it upon myself to start reducing my meds (without consulting my doctor/not good advice). I started by cutting out 1 solphadeine per day. I have to say that even with this small adjustment my pain went through the roof.
But i knew i had to do this for myself otherwise i would be addicted for life and my quality of life would be impaired.
It is a very slow and frustrating process but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I still suffer from chronic back pain but i have managed to reduce my intake of meds to 270 per month.
I am still in the process of cutting down my meds.
What helped me were long hot soaks in the bath, a hot water bottle at all times, my family and some pain releiving gel.
I know what you are going through at the moment but let me say that you sound a very strong willed lady and you can do this.Best of luck and consult your doctor before you start reducing your meds.God Bless.
You are NOT addicted unless you have been compulsively drug-seeking or continuing to take the meds despite negative consequences in your life (losing a job, divorce, etc.) or if you do not have pain anymore but are still taking the meds. If you genuinely need the meds you are not an addict. You are dependant on the drugs, but that is to be expected-- you have a disease, so you depend on meds to treat it. It is no different than a diabetic taking insulin, but no one calls them addicts. Your body had become used to the meds, that is ALL. Addiction is a behavior issue, dependance happens with ANY medication a person takes long-term. Don't let anyone scare you or amke you feel like a junkie; you re absolutely NOT one. Talk with your doctor about going to a pain management doctor, and don't feel like an addict. You have an illness, you take medication for it, that's all.
First of all STOP believing all the people who say that you are ADDICTED to pain killers. You are NOT addicted.. you are DEPENDANT. There is a HUGE differance. If you are afraid that the doc w/ take you off the narcotics b/c you dont want to have to face life w/ severe pain then that is a VERY normal fear! If you are afraid he will take you off b/c you like the "high" or relaxation that it gives you then you need to think twice about the "addiction" part!!Ok.. NOW.. as far as the pain! You NEED to bite the bullet and go to your doctor ASAP! It sounds like you are having some MAJOR issues and if it IS because of the narcotics then you will unfortunately have to find a better solution for you.. but in the long run hun, dont you think it would be better to just get off of them and LIVE then stay on them when your body is refusing them and perhaps die!? It sounds as though you have been through a LOT in the pain department and I REALLY TRULY feel your pain!! You and your doctor need to sit down and have an HONEST long talk about what you need to now do to control the pain! It might be that he needs to seriously concider "upping" your dosage! Unfortunately because of the world we live in today there are a LOT of people who abuse narcotics and it makes it VERY difficult for people who ARE in horrible pain to get the relief that they so desperately NEED! If you are going to a doctor who makes you feel guilty or bad for needing pain meds when you ARE in pain then you need to do some research and find a new doctor who wont make you feel as though you are an "addict!" Take care and I hope that you will be in less pain tomorrow and in the days to come!
It is professionally irresponsible for any clinician to prescribe you codeine any longer.. you should seek professional advice for your addiction with a view to withdrawing from your useage. It maybe a good idea to be referred to a pain management clinic so that this condition can be managed more effectively. If you carry on using this drug irresponsibly then you could cause damage to your body. Be honest with yourself and get some medical advice.
I really suggest you contact The Caron Foundation in Wernersville Pa and see if they can refer you to a responsible pain management clinic. They are a rehab and you need a controled place that can detox you

Longer acting opiates? I need something with time release but convincing a doc is not easy?

I have been treated with Norcos (10mg) now for 2 years at 5 a day. I have kept this dosing and have no desire for something stronger but something longer acting. Why is it so hard to get a time release from a doctor. If it were any other medication the time release would be the first choice. If I were going to abuse opiates I would have already been for the last couple years. Really, I have been put under the microscope already for these years and have never abused or tried to pull any crap. For someone with chronic pain like me, abuse or overuse is not a option and I dont seem to get these great highs that all these abusers get. I guess that is because I actually have pain. If I were to double my dose one day trying to achieve a high then I would screw myself out of a day with relief..to me its thats simple. Anyways I have doubled my doses before as recommended from my doc after being hospitalized and I never got high for christ sake. I just need something that last longer.. its hard
Answer:
If your doc won't give you what you need (and if what you are asking for is reasonable), then why not find another doc? There has been plenty of research and advances in pain management, and I understand there are experts around who "get it right" without serious addiction issues (it seems hard to not develop some level of biochemical dependency.) Find out which docs are doing cutting edge work and what are the most current %26 effective types of treatment for pain management, and explore which of the approaches might work best for you. Then you can seek a "second opinion" either from a local specialist who uses that approach to treatment, or a national expert (if you're willing %26 able to travel) who you can see 2-4 times per year, using your current doc for ongoing maintenance (if both docs are willing to work collaboratively on your case.) If you like the local person, maybe you switch to that doc as your provider.ADDED: Wow, it sounds like even hearing feedback about the potential of addiction to painkillers makes you defensive %26 irrational, not to mention abrasive %26 insulting. It sounds like you're terrified of not getting what you need. I'm wondering if that type of behavior is a side effect of your medication, or maybe a consequence of not being effectively treated?? Whatever the case, when people offer support, useful or not, that response is disrespectful, sounds unappreciative, and is absolutely inappropriate, not to mention that it makes people not want to be involved on this site and not want to take the risk of offering help. Bottom line, that calls for an apology.
Ask for Gabapentin. It usually is used for seizures but a strong side-effect is pain-killing. It was my savior when I was desperate with my back and needed 2 hip replacements.
Ask your doctor about pain medications in transdermal patch form. Of course you would have to stop taking any pills, but there are medications available in a patch, which would provide a constant small dose over a 1-3 day time frame (depending on the med/dose) to provide the consistent pain relief you seek.
Whether opiates are taken for medicinal purposes or recreation, they are addictive, and they can cause a high. Just because a patient is in pain, it does not mean that he/she cannot get high off of painkillers. Stating that someone has a "lower IQ" because they become addicted to something is simply a case of your ignorance of this type of medication. At five per day for two years, you are definately addicted to your medication. If you stop abruptly, you will feel physical withdrawal, and may even have some psychological symptoms. Taking this medicine as prescribed doesn't make you exempt from dependency.Have you not heard the recent findings in the Purdue's OxyContin scandal? There is a risk of addiction with or without pain my friend, and this is why doctors are hesitant to prescribe it. You can claim that you are different than an "abuser," but when it comes down to human basics, we all have a brain that compensates for additional chemicals being put into our body.Doctors can have their licence taken away for making a mistake like this. If he/she feels you do not need to be prescribed to OxyContin, then you probably don't need it. Given the fact that you are only taking 10mg Norcos, your doctor isn't going to jump to OxyContin from that. They will usually goto Percocet first, and then after your tolerance to that is through the roof, they put you on OxyContin until you reach a dose of (2) 80 mg pills a day. You are better off on nothing, and using natural pain techniques. Our pain threshold actually decreases when on NO pain medication, making the condition less painful. A lot of people with chronic back problems do different exercises, acupuncture, and stretching techniques with much success. You are better off staying away from anything long-acting. I suggest reading up on this at the website I listed below. It's devoted to giving an UNBIASED view of opioids.
I was in a head on collision 2002, I had many injuries the most seriuos was breaking my neck, but luckily not the spinal cord. I have encountered the same thing, until I was reccomended to pain management. Then I was taken seriuosly after taking every test they could think of.Finaly found the medications that work for me.I'm not mentioning what I'm taking now because I found out that everyone responds to medications differently. Good luck
I can't stand answers like the one from: imsoeffinhxc. These are the very kind of people that make it so difficult for those with chronic pain and pain management. They seem to think they understand and have a whole lot of advise. People like this should keep to themselves.
Unfortunately like all opiate use in chronic pain it begins to be less effective. You should really consider acupuncture or seeing a pain management specialist (check the yellow pages) so you can learn about all the new available options for chronic pain management. Many specialists are now integrating both western and eastern medical treatments with proven results.
I feel your pain. I'm 26 and in Pain Management. The only time -release drugs are stronger than what you are taking. But, regular docs are loathe to prrescribe strong, long acting narcotics. Your best bet, if you haven't already, is to take you rrecords to a Pain Management Clinic. They will give you long acting meds and breakthrough meds. All the Tylenol is not good for your liver anyway. if you already see a PM doc, don't be afraid to ask for something long-acting. They're there to help. I was terrified of docs after being in pain for 5 years and pain serious enough to keep me bedridden for a year and a half, but when I went to my PM doc for the first time, everything turned around. He genuinely cares and gives me meds that WORK, and adjusts the doasges carefully to give me maximum relief with minimum side-effects. He has given me a long acting med (Oxycontin) so I can actually sleep through the night (before I woke up when the pain meds wore off, took more, and couldn't go back to sleep until after they kicked in-- all in all about an hour's worth of waking) and a breakthrough med (Oxy IR) to help with pain that breaks through the Oxycontin occasionally. Like I said, take your records and see a PM doc. they WILL help and it WILL change your life. it sure changed mine. E-mail me if you have any questions or if I can help in any way! Also, for the person who said you have to stop taking any pills if you use a pain patch... NOT TRUE!! Many docs give breakthrough pain pills (immediate acting narcotics such as Oxy IR or Morphine) because the patches take up to 24 hours to give relief, and they can't be changed for 3 days, so if you have any pain that breaks through in that time, you have to have something to take. In fact, it is commone practice in pain management to give a long-acting narcotic in combination with an immediate acting one to be taken ONLY if needed for breakthrough pain.EDIT: About carrying your bottle... there are a couple of ways around that. I have 2 key fob bottles for my meds, one for my Oxycontin and one for my Oxy IR. If you get caught with these it is simple enough to call your doc and verify you have a legit prescription. The other thing you can do, which i do for travelling (because I get 100 of the Oxy IR's so the pharmacy just gives me the unopened bottle they get from the drug company because that's how they come) is to ask for a smaller bottle; with your prescription, you already get one r two extra stickers that have the prescription number, your name, and the drug name on them. Just attach that sticker to the smaller bottle and carry them that way. That way, if there's any question, whoever is questioning can call the pharmacy and give them the RX number and they can verify that your script is legit.
I know exactly what you mean!! I would almost bet that you are not being treated by pain management specialist, if you are they are the wrong ones!! I have been dealing with doctors not taking my questions and requests seriously reguarding pain for about 3yrs before I finally got into a pain management clinic. Its really a shame that we have to suffer for others stupidity. The Doctors can have MRI's, etc. right in front of them and have to know that you are in pain and then they are afraid to prescribe you a suitable medication because the are held accountable for every prescription that they write. As a patient you are always having to watch what you say, or how you say it so that you don't give them the wrong impression. (Especially if you are young). I finally put my foot down and insisted on more help, because my pain was causing other physical issues and I was having to take medication for that now.
I finally was refered to a Pain Management Clinic, and believe me you still have to jump through hoops, but you at least get taken seriously and they know what to prescribe that will actually help. When I started taking these meds though, I had to sign contracts with the clinic reguarding my use. I was insulted in a way, but was so happy to finally be treated properly for my pain that I overlooked it. lol
I even have to agree to coming into the office, with all of my medications, randomly for a "pill count". Pretty ridiculous, considering, like you said, if I don't take them properly or give them away, then I hurt!!
When I first went into the clinic, they added medications to my Lortab(similar to Norco) such as Nuerotin and Tramadol.
Now they have finally be changed to a workable solution.
I take Methadone (which I was really scared of) but only 10mg, twice a day, Tramadol, and Lyrica (replaced the Nuerotin) for sciatic nerve damage.which was caused from not treating my back pain seriously.
Anyway, I hope this helps, I kinda get carried away when I talk about this stuff!! lol
Good Luck

Long term sore ankle?

Answer:
if long term means years go to a rheumatologist, if long term means weeks try a 2 week period of rest, if it means days , have warm compress and rest, if hours , have cold compress and go to an orthoped, and if ure satisfied take me as the best answer.
Not sure what you consider long term but it could be rheumatoid arthritis or onset of arthritis.or if you had a sprain, maybe you had a small hairline fracture too?? and it has not been given a real chance to heal properly? Get it checked out

Long story, help with it please?

So this is not my story but my friends story and here it goes... in the company we have a one year exchange where we take interns from canada so this girl came down to live with us here and we became best friends inmediately, she is a very nice and fun person but she is also what we call a man eater. Since she knew she will spend a year in the USA she just wanted to date and hook up with different guys without any real commitment. A month after she came she met this guy that was on the same page as her... he didn麓t want any commitment but just to have fun. They started to date and to hang out pretty often but at some point they totally lose respect for each other and started to make out with different people in front of each other just to make the other one jealous and make a big scene (for some reason that will turn them on). Anyways as her year was about to be over this guy and her had a talk about them and he seemed like he wanted a serious relationship with her but she told him.
Answer:
lmao @ Ipek.I agree. I get this eerie feeling that the writer is of school age. Wrong category. she dont even know about using her periods. Does she even KNOW about periods yet?
Are you bored??
has your friend heard of the term, 'tough love'? There is a time to hold a persons hand and a time to let go. she needs to let go. She is there, he is here. He needs to seek out people around him. what can she really do from there? It sounds like he is entangling her in his issues. She needs to get out now while she can.
i guess the best / only thing you can do it to continue to contact him. Maybe try and look up his number and call him. Or if you're really really concerned then take a road trip and go to his house. From my experience with people who are depressed, if they're really going to harm themselves they'll give you little hints, and from what you said that he said it doesn't sound like he's really truly depressed and suicidal. but i wouldn't completely know because i'm not in your shoes.
I agree 2 disagree with everything you did not say .

Little orange bubble on the bottom of eye lid?

Its only on my right eye, and if you push your eyelid up, and then look at the bottom there is two little orange bubble type things? Does anyone know what they are?
Answer:
It is probably just a stye..wich is just a clogged hair folical.Apply a warm compress for five to ten minutes a couple of times a day and it should dissapear on it's own
There has been a staff infection going around in some areas and i got it in both my eyes. I got a bubble on one of my eyes but it was clear, very itchy and very red. You really need to get checked out by a doctor, especially if it doesn't start going away pretty soon, you might need antibiotics.
Sounds like a sty. So just apply warm compresses to the eye and it should be better in a few days.

Little Bumps on arms and legs??

Ok, i have these little bumps on the back of my arms and legs since i can remember. They are like little pimples but not... I'm quite embarrased by them sometimes, because they can be noticable. I really want clear, smooth skin on my arms and legs. Does anyone know what this is, or how I can get rid of them without going to a dermatoligist. I've tried lotions and such... anyone??
Answer:
Okay, I don't know if u have the same as me. I also use to have it. On my arms and legs. Just these red/clear bumps. It's caused by clogged pores. I read that somewhere. It's when you rub lotion or body wash, if you rub it up and down, it irritates/clogs the pores. Instead, rub lotion in just one direction. Also when shaving legs, go in one direction. And use shaving cream. Using soap to shave can irritate the folicles. Shaving cream at the end of the bath because your skin is soften and you don't have to run the shaver over and over. I starting doing this for about 2 months and it's almost cleared up. I also use a light exfoliator but not more than once a week. Good luck!
they are probably fatty lumps
It sounds like you have very sensitive skin probably dry too- these little bumps sometimes are a type of eczema. Really if you want them done you will need an rx topical cream, but for OTC try some super moisturizing lotions/ creams. MAry kay has a good one(extra emollient night cream) and keep these areas super moisturized. see if that will work if not you will just have to go to a Derm, or a family dr.
sorry

Little blood inside ofo my ear. Help?

I currently have a minor cold. Yesterday I blew my nose pretty hard and my ear sort of popped with no pain. It was one of those ear pops everyone gets where they have to yawn or something to get rid of it. The next morning I felt something tickling inside of my ear like there was something inside of it. I got a q-tip and used it on my left ear. It felt better, but when I looked at the q-tip there was very little blood around it. There was no pain it just tickled inside. Is this serious or can this heal by itself?
Answer:
A perforated ear drum usually causes a lot of pain. Sometimes wax can look like blood, but this is normal. Because you are in excruciating pain, I'm assuming that you saw the wax that looked like blood. If you are not hearing any differently, and are feeling no pain, then there is nothing to worry about.
I'd get checked by a doctor. You could have perforated an ear drum.
Sometimes people just get little pimples in there and they ooze a little bit after they pop. I doubt it's anything about which you need to worry.
Your fine so long as the bleeding stopped. People get tiny sores or infections in their ears just like anywhere else on your body. The cold may have added to it. But with any bleeding..so long as it stops your fine. Your body is a natural healer. I think you are fine.
it is very normal to find some drops everywhile. it might not be even from the blowing thing. could be from before. and collected by the ear wax. and by chance u picked ur ear that day..dont worry..just if u are scared...avoid wetting it with water or swimming and diving...dont use cotton picks no more for few days and u'll be fine.

Lipp pierced???

i want to get my lipp pierced this weekend ,,but i want to no if its going to hurt and if you get a big lipp ?
and what if it looks weird on me ?? what do i do then .. do you think it will ?
Answer:
I have a great idea. Don't do it. That way it won't hurt and you won't get a fat lip.
I have seen some girls and guys here in town with them pierced=the ones who get the big ones end up having infection and trouble with their teeth===the ones who get like a diamond look stud have less problems==but the choice is totally yours===there will be tenderness in any piercing
ok first its going to hurt and second it might look trashy. So keep that in mind.

Lightheaded?

im 13 and in schoool i am lightheaded almost everyday with mild headache does anybody else have this?
i been to the doctor about the headaches and they sid its nothing to worry about just migranes
but i am scared abd beebn crying also because it was abnnoyng so my mom wen to see the doctor and got a appointment with a special child doctor.
im realy scared does anybody else have this/
Answer:
Lightheadedness is a common and often unpleasant sensation of dizziness and/or feeling that one may be about to faint, which may be transient, recurrent, or occasionally chronic. In some cases the individual may feel as though his or her head is weightless. It can be simply an indication of a temporary shortage of blood or oxygen to the brain, low blood pressure, low blood sugar, or anemia. It can also be a symptom of many other conditions, some of them serious, such as heart disease, stroke, or bleeding.Treatment for light-headedness can include drinking plenty of water or other fluids (unless the lightheadedness is the result of water intoxication in which case drinking water is quite dangerous), eating something sugary, and lying down or sitting and reducing the elevation of the head relative to the body (for example by positioning the head between the knees).
try drinking more water. it could be dehyration.
are u on any medication or contarceptive pill that can make u lightheaded but so can dehidration drink lots of water hunny hope u feel better
if you skip breakfast, that won't help.
Aww hunni dont get upset, it can be a number of things.
you could be aenemic (have too little ironin your system) which they will treat with tablets
It could be your diet..are you getting enough calories, if your on a diet stop it an the headaches and dizziness may stop
It could just be stress or a phase your body is going through.when i was 16 i had headaches, dizziness, stiff neck and was sooo tired. the doctors did loads of tests for thyroid problems, diabetes, aneameaia, etc and found nothing wrong. I was told it was just a viral infection. It lasted for years when i got ovver tired or stress it would start again. I still get it every now and again and im 29 now!the more you worry the worse the symptoms will get. Have an early night, eat well and relax. If it was anything nasty im sure the doctor would have found something when you went first time.
good luck hunni and hope you feel better soon x
it's good you're going to see a specialist. it's probably nothing, many teenagers have those problems: you're growing, might be missing something in your diet, or maybe you're just under a lot of stress. don't worry about it much, but do see a doctor, maybe you'll get something to ease your pain, and it will make you feel better once you hear that nothing horrible is happening to you.
Hi, I used to get this when I was a teen too and at the time the problem was that I didn't eat enough or didn't have a good enough diet. Make sure you don't skip breakfasts, eat lots of fruit and vegetables and make sure you drink plenty of water. I hope you feel better soon and find that the problems isn't anything more sensibly. It might also be an idea to get your eye sight tested because bad eyesight can also cause headaches.Good luck!
Don't be scared, just eat healthy, drink regularly and try to relax. The more you worry the less chance you have of getting rid of the headaches which will make you more light headed! vicious circle! Also change your name from ugly girl!
Not eating enough can cause headaches and make you dizzy as your blood sugar crashes...Try to make sure you eat a good breakfast and drink plenty of water x Try not 2 worry 2 much as that will make your head hurt 2! x
Are you going through puberty? I sometimes feel light-headed before my period. I know that hormones could have an influece on your blood pressure.
I would suggest you do an extensive blood test to see if the levels of your hormones are OK...
Also, try not to panic, as this can cause more problems than you already have. There will most likely nothing to worry about!
x
Hugs
make sure you don't skip a meal. that can make you feel lightheaded. It can also cause your migraines. 20-50 who have migraine experience vertigo (not a nice feeling) I know how you feel. It can be annoying. Make sure you rest and drink plenty of water.
All the other answers have been very good and contained good advice but have you had your blood pressure checked? When I was your age I used to get faint and dizzy just from standing up or moving about quickly, I found out I simply had low blood pressure. I think you should ask to have it checked next time your at the doctors, take care %26 dont worry about it x
If you feel lightheaded, it can be caused by your neck - it's not serious but ask your mum to take you to an osteopath.Make sure she takes you to a very experienced osteopath, and ask them to be gentle. It should help, though.
Hi, no worries it could be a number of things and most likely something simple! :) Allergies - do ur eyes itch? water? can't breathe out ur nose? when allergies act up the congestion in your head can cause allergies and mess up your equilibrium (balance)
Stress - if you're stressing about school or life it can cause it
Eating breakfast - if you don't eat you will get headaches as well
Menstral - do you notice it anytime around your period or before it?
Eyesight - do you stay on the computer for long periods of time? have you ever had your eyes checked? maybe you need glasses.I have a lot of allergy problems (mold/grass) living in Midwest USA and get at least one sinus infection a year that causes severe pounding headaches, but if you're from UK I know goldenrod (forgot the equivalent name for it there) is a huge allergen and abundant.
it's awful, i am going through the same thing. i been geting light headed everyday now. if anybody else is experiencing this i cant stress enough, do not skip breakfast. it will make it twice as bad. and also drink plenty of fluids, and not only water. the body needs sugar drink orange juice and caffienated free sodas. and here is something else i recently discovered, penut butter crackers help!! (no not penut butter flavored crackers) the snack crackers with 2 crackers with a layer of penut butter. dont ask me why, but it helps you should try it...best of luck

Lifting weights without strengthening your back?

if you lift freewights and only work on arms and shoulders, can you end up hurting your back because your back muscles are not strong enough to support the heavy weights?
Answer:
You definitely could ... particularly if you are attempting to lift too much weight and cheat by using your back to help lift the weight, which I see all the time in gyms all over. But why would you want to just lift for your arms and shoulders? You need to address all body parts to have a strong and balanced body. Muscular imbalances in the body can lead to problems down the line, like back pain.
yes you need to squat as well to strengthen ur lower back which takes the most stress
yes you definatley can. my husband did that in highschool from lifting weights for football and now he has bursitis in the back . Wich is very painful

Lidoderm? Any good?

I wanted to know if anyone has tried Lidoderm? Is it any good? Is it strong? Does it produce a eurpohic[high] feeling? Thanks
Answer:
Lidoderm is a topical anesthetic. That means it numbs your skin. It does absolutely nothing else. It certainly does not produce a "high" feeling. It's just lidocaine in a patch form (a form of the stuff the dentist uses to numb your mouth before a filling). Is it good? That depends on what you're using it for. It was very good for me because I have RSD/CRPS, which makes my skin hypersensitive to touch. I doubt that Lidoderm helps muscle aches or bone pain. It only works on the surface. My only problem with Lidoderm was the size of the patches and the difficulty of keeping them where I wanted them at all times. I wore several at a time usually, and they didn't always stay where they were placed. That said, they were definitely better than nothing. They made it so I could wear a sock on my left foot.
I could not tell any difference when I used them. You definately don't feel high. I say take some otc motrin and rest whatever hurts you'll feel fine soon enough.
They worked fairly well for me, but because of my severe sensitivity to touch ( I have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome CRPS/RSD) taking them off was so painful that I stopped using them. They do not make you really feel "high" They just make the area that you place the patch on numb.

Leg problem??

ok, so i've been to like 4 doctors and had 6 blood tests taken, over 10 x-rays, a blood pool test, and a bone scan. No one seems to know what's wrong. My heel has white spots that keep disappearing and is swollen. My tendons are like tight and the physical theripyst is working them out, but there is something more than that. I am on a strong pain killer that is so strong you can only take it once a day and i still wake up at night from the pain! My ankle was swolled and discolored to start, then later it radiated up my leg. I had a very similar situation about 4 months ago. If you know of anything this could be, please help me. My grades are slipping and the pain is horrible. I can't walk, so i'm using crutches and they are having me wear a boot all day and night, but i can't even walk on my boot alone yet, the pain is too much. I have to wait until monday to get my bone scan results, but if you think you have an idea, please let me know ASAP, i just want this pain gone! Thanx!
Answer:
Gee, I don't know but have you been referred to a Neurologist yet? I understand that they are pain experts. I kinda wonder if this pain is from pinched nerves in the back. I am praying for the doctors to correctly diagnose the cause and properly treat you to eliminate this horrible pain.
see doc
Is it just your heel that is bothering you or your whole leg? Is the swelling in the ankle or the whole leg? Left leg or right leg?

Leg infection/swollen foot?

i got a splinter that got infected and over night i covered it with a sterile gauze pad and wrapped it with an ace bandage, it wasnt that tight but i guess it was too tight because when i woke up my foot is retaining fluid. how do i make the fluid leave. ive had it elevated for most of yesterday and its gone down about 25% but how long can u sit with your foot in the air?ps i saw the dr and got antibiotics, ide like to not to have to go back to the drs because my boss is paying for this
thanks
Answer:
No expert here, but it makes sense to me to drink lots %26 lots of water--an overabundance will force your body to move %26 circulate the excess fluids, thereby getting it back to normal more quickly.? Massage will help with lessening the swelling too. Elevation is standard procedure--should be above your heart level. And there are OTC %26 Rx diuretic pills made to force the fluid out--you'll need to be ready to run empty your bladder frequently! (Lasix, etc.)

Leg help - they are feeling weird?

What's up with this? My legs feel all tingly and i need to freaking stretch them like every 1 second!Whats wrong!?Oh and if it matters, the last thing i drank was Propel water with calcium ...
Answer:
Could be Restless legs syndrome?...see a doctor.. here are some links..Restless legs syndromehttp://www.rls.org/netcommunity/page.asp... (what is restless legs syndrome)

Perhaps you have RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome)
Sounds like restless leg syndrome. Do they feel like bugs are crawling, and you have to just grab your leg and rub it? Do they do this more when you are getting ready for bed? I don't think it has anything to do with the water.
just drink more milk and cut your leg open

Leg Cramps. HELP!?

What is best way to get rid of led cramps? I've been having them for several days and I've tried just about everything. More liquid, more calcium, is there anything else I can try? HELP ME, PLEASE!
Answer:
i would make an appointment with your doctor.i have fibromyalgia and i get leg cramps pretty much daily...but its possible you have rls or some kind of myopathy or something else.
your doctor if nothing else will run some tests and figure out if you need medication.
in the meantime...lots of calcium, glucosamine is good for your joints if its bothing you in your knees or ankles at all.
good luck!
get active! run or something! (or go see a doctor? i heard something about it on the news...)
Try to do some stretching of your muscles that are cramping.2 or 3 times for 30 secs each time.
warm them(shower, not heavy excercise, compresses) best answer?
The Chinese use this method-lie down with legs and arms outstretched keeping the heels apart and the toes touching one another, then extend the legs as far as possible maintaining toe to toe contact and heel separation. Repeat this stretch 10 times, one to three times per day.
eat bananas, drink lots of water and OJ, u need potassium and water. i suffer them SOOO bad too, i feel ur pain, sometimes ill get them from my hips to my toes in both legs, i can't even walk when that happens :(

Left side severe pain?

for the last fue days I have frequent pain on my left side under my ribs. it radiates toward my back. today it is almost unbearable to move or walk. when I cough or press on it, it hurts. I don't think i'm pregnant cause I got my period this month. I do have a yeast infection so I don't know if it relates. i'm goin to the docs soon, I just want some opinions on what it could be
Answer:
There's many possibilities of what this could be. My first thought is you have muscle strain because the pain is radiating into your back, as well as hurting when you press on it. Place a heating pad on the area of pain for twenty minutes and see if this helps remove some of the pain. This could also be an intestinal problem. If you've been constipated this could cause pain because of the pressure of the intestines on the nerves. If you have been constipated start taking a powdered fiber supplement first thing in the morning and last thing at night. If none of these work for you I'm sure your doctor can help.
i would like to help you but this really isn't the place to ask. it could be anything. please get help as soon as possible though because if it hurts when you cough or press the affected area, it could be very serious. however, it could very well be related to your yeast infection, although it is rare.
i hope you get well. please e-mail me / message me if you figure out what it is.

Left groin pain?

I have pain in the left groin area. and my bladder is lowering
sometimes this pain goes to my left thigh to knee area in the back. but mostly goes to my hip area.I have had a hysterectomy 3 years ago. I just went to the doc. who has referred me to a surgeon for a hernia. This pain sometimes goes away but has been constant for about 8 months now
someone else suggested a herniated disk. and then said to never ever have back surgery. I am scared and in terrible pain
any suggestions
Answer:
I'm so sorry you're going through so much pain. First off you have to find out exactly what is wrong. Try not to let other people scare you with their horror stories of terrible surgeries. With severe pain you have to get to the cause. A hernia operation is not the same as having back surgery. There are new techniques being used in hernia surgery and I have heard that people are recovering and feeling much better because of the new techniques. My biggest suggestion is first find out what you have. Talk everything over with your doctor and express your fears. That's the best thing you can do for the moment. Once you find out what's wrong you can post another question here. Good luck,
Billie
It kind of sounds like it might be a herniated disc. Try lying on your stomach and then extended you arms, lifting your chest off the floor while keeping your hips on the ground like this:
http://www.easyvigour.net.nz/fitness/h_m...If that relieves the pain, then the odds are good it's a herniated disc. If so, makean appointment to see a spine surgeon, who can give you a better idea if you might need surgery or not.

Lead Contamination?

Lead contamination?
What would be the steps a pregnant woman or a family with young children should take to reduce the chances of lead leaching into the drinking water, since lead contamination of water is a significant problem in many older buildings?
Answer:
use a carbon filter to make sure that the water your drinking is clean. Use like a Brita or something. the charcoal in those neutralizes the lead compound and will keep it in the filter instead of the water.
get one of the water purifiers that go right onto the tap=or buy bottled water ==in the long run the purifier is cheaper
Get a plumber and ask that they renew the water pipes from lead to copper or the new plastic type.
I'M ONLY 14 BUT I HAVE A SUGESSTION. MAYBE YOU COULD GO TO YOUR LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND ASK THEM ABOUT CHECKING ABOUT LEAD CONTAMINATION. HOPE THAT I HELPED.

Latrodectus, Black widow, Viuda negra. Antidotes?-Antidotos?

Hello, I recently move to live with a cousim.
And cleaning a room, we found some of this spiders, what can we do?, can they kill us?, any natural antidote?, if was necesary to use isecticides, what can i do to protect the home pets?, they are dogs and fish, basically. And i dont want them to harm the pets with the insectiside, but i neither want to die, because a spider bite me.Thanks for your help.On Spanish:
Gracias.
Answer:
Yes, I would use pesticides. I would fog the entire house and spray pesticide on all the base boards inside the house.Outside (around the perimeter of the house) I would put down some Sevin granules to prevent reinfection of the house from spiders around the outside of the home. The black widow is rarely fatal to adults (less than 1 % fatality rate) but can kill children easier. Black Widow is considered the most venomous spider in North America. The venom of the black widow spider is 15 times as toxic as the venom of the prairie rattlesnake.GOOD LUCK!

Lateral release?

Has anyone had a lateral release before? My PT suggested it today and it made me freeze up at the mention of surgery. I have had an operation before and was sick from an overdose of anesthesia. If any of you know any infornmation about the lateral release please let me know.
Answer:
As a sports medicine physical therapist who only sees kids ages 9-18 I have seen numerous patients who have had this surgery. The rehab usually takes around 3 months, but the good news is that if you put a lot of effort into the rehab then the outcome is usually pretty good. Almost all of my patients return to sports without problems after their rehab.
can not help you if you want info call your doc

Late period=ultra sound- what tests?

I know that if your period is a LITTLE late usually it is just not regular but if it like a month or more and you went to the doctor to find out why, would they do an ultra sound? Also, what sort of tests would they do?
Answer:
The first thing they will do is a pregnancy test. If that should come up negative, then they will run some blood tests to try to pinpoint the issue. Sometimes they run ultrasounds as well. An ultrasound is not just used for pregnancies these days. It is a valuable tool for diagnosing other issues. But they try to find the problems through blood work, urinalysis, and any other tests they can first. And sometimes it is a matter of how old you are... you may very well still be young enough for your periods to not be so regular yet. One step at a time my dear.. first see the doctor... and he will tell you what tests he wishes to run. If you aren't sure about the tests, don't be afraid to ask questions... take all the time you need, you are as important as the next person is.
The first thing they would probably do is a pregnancy test, and if that came back negative there are other batteries of tests they'd run based on your symptoms. An ultrasound would only be done if they confirmed you are pregnant, and then only as a baseline after a certain stage of the pregnancy.
It depends how old you are. If you're a teenager, it's normal to not have regular periods. If you're older, they will probably ask you about your stress, what you've been eating, how you've been feeling, what medications you were taking. If they don't find a different reason, they'll try a pregnancy test.

Last week I sprained my ankle. At the ER they gave me an ace bandage splint and crutches, and told me to stay?

off it until I could walk without pain. Now it's a week later, and its no better, and there's a strange, hard bump about where my ankle meets my heel. Is this usual? I have insurance, but a huge deductable, so I was hoping this would clear up w/o visiting a Dr.
Answer:
I just had a Total Knee replacement and when they operated they had put my ankle tightly in a vise to keep it from moving and I ended up spraining my ankle in the process. This was just last week. It is now swollen as big as a Grapefruit and a deep Purple and they have me putting ice on it 4 times a day (an hour at a time) but they also have me exercising it. which in my opinion causes more swelling but they say is necessary to restore it healing properly. Also when I am sitting, it has to be Elevated. Try doing these things for a few days even if its painfull as mine is but it does start to slowly get well...
Hey did they do an x-ray? usually RICE ( rest, ice, compression, and elevation) will do the trick. If it's been a week and it still painful, and the fact that you have a hard bump, should lead you back to your physician
From my experiences you do want to try to walk on it when the pain allows but if you are still feeling sharp pains in another week or so, you may need to get a 2nd opinion. Did he tell you to schedule a follow-up appt. Sometimes they can get a better idea after a week or two.
I don't know if it's normal or not, but I had basically the same thing you describe. I was about 14 years old and the "bump" didn't disappear for several months. It didn't hurt, so of course I didn't tell my mother. I never had any problems with that ankle afterward, but if you still have pain I would recommend calling your doctor and asking about the "bump" and also explaining your deductable situation (so maybe they'll be more helpful over the phone).
sounds like you have a hairline fracture, It is a faint fracture that most dr's miss as it is the width of a piece of hari (hence the name) the problem with those type of fractures is you need to be on the right angle to see them. I would def. go back to the hospital to get it re-set, or if cheaper to the dr, get x-rays again then back to doc.

Last night while I was jogging I got a really bad burn... now I am burned and in places I have brown blots?

Yesterday I went jogging and got a huge burn on my arms and neck. I took some aloe plant and put in on my arms when that dried up I put desitin on it. The pain isn't as bad anymore, but I now have dark brown blotches up and down my skin, and I am a very pale person so they stick out a lot. Is this perminent? Is there a way to get it off? What is it?
Answer:
That sounds like a pigmentation problem some people get with tanning.Maybe you can find more info on webmd.com about it.good luck

Last night I woke up shaking and I could not stop.I was not running a fever or anything?

I feel much better today but I am scared to go to sleep I am afraid that it will happen again. What would you do.I went to the doc and they could not find anything wrong.I am so scarred. Please help.
Answer:
Maybe you had a very bad dream, but it was only remembered by your subconscious. That's why you don't recall it.
Could it be you were having a nightmare but don't remember? I'm glad you went to the doctor, since he couldn't find anything wrong, don't stress. Happy thoughts. My husband will shake but he's a diabetic.
Maybe it was a nightmare you cannot remember.
thats how i was this morning!!
thank god its not just me!!
i didnt know what was happening
it freaked me out
i felt shaky but for no reason
it felt like my insides were shaking too
i couldnt stop itim sorry i cant help but dont let yourself lose sleep over it
or else you really will get sickps if it comes back drink water it helps a little
This could be due to your nerves. When you have a lot on your mind or have constant stress, this can show in your sleep, causing you to shiver uncontrollably. You need to learn to calm yourself before going to sleep. If this continues, then you have to go see your physician for anxiety disorder.

Lasik Eye Surgery?

Do you need to be a certain age to get Lasik? And around how much does it cost? And where are some good places to get Lasik?
Answer:
Before getting Lasik surgery, consider the careers you want to go in. For instance, already the Navy (and I believe most of the Military) disqualifies pilots who undergo Lasik. Eventually, airlines may do the same particularly as several crashes have occured. At my local hospitals, surgeons have already been told that they will no longer be able to perform surgery if they undergo Lasik. Nurses in certain areas also fall under this. So consider that if you want to go into fields where exacting vision is required. You can wear corrective lenses.I'm not a candidate for Lasik (already blind in one eye), so I don't have details, but you do want a place that has a good reputation in your area.
I would never suggest that someone so young, which I'm assuming you are has any sort of treatment like this, it is purely vanity at your age. Please don;t rush into this, I have considered laser treatment for various reasons including recreational sport etc. Try contact lenses first, Its not so bad wearing specs these days they can enhance ya "coolness" consider this first before you worry about what others may think of you wearing specs or contacts. After all for decades most people have thought you look more intelligent if you are a spec wearer. Price wise I think you can wave goodbye to anything between $500 to $1000 per eye if done properly.
Actually, a 100% raw-vegan diet will correct your vision and is much cheaper...
Generally, Lasik is not done on anyone under the age of 21. This is because you can still have significant vision changes till that age. The vision starts to level off between age 18-20. They also want your vision to be stable for about 6 months to 1 year. This means no significant change in your prescription. I don't think they would even consider performing Lasik on a 16 year old. If they would agreee-stay away because it is too good to be true.Hope this helps!

Lasik eye surgery?

Has anyone ever had lasik eye surgery. I want to do it as i am blind as a bat and the money isn't an issue. I am just scared that something will go wrong and i will end up blind or something. Has anyone ever had problems with lasik eye surgery?
Answer:
I was about 20/250 before Lasik surgery last year. The procedure was painless, probably due to the Valium they gave me. The ride home (as a passenger, of course) was fairly uncomfortable, mainly due to light sensitivity. The doctor gave me dark goggles, but the light was still too bright. I was in some pain once I got home (maybe 3 hours post procedure), but I had some left over Vicodin, and took two doses of that. The Vicodin took the edge off. Slept fine that night. Woke up the next morning, and I COULD SEE FINE! Hallelujah! I was jazzed up about that. I drove myself to my one day check up (an 2 hour round trip) with no problems. For that check up, I was seeing at 20/25, less than 24 hours after the surgery. I went to work that afternoon (doing ultrasound which really requires you to use your eyes). For my one week check up, I was seeing between 20/20 and 20/15. Other than the touch of pain I had post procedure, before I went to bed for the night, I had no other problems. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Just one other thing.I went to a doctor who used computerized, lazer equipment. No knives were involved. But, it cost me a pretty penny. I paid $5500 total for both eyes, but I was not comfortable going to a doctor that advertized in the newpaper for $500 per eye. Sometimes you get what you pay for! Good luck to you!
my cousin has
Have I had it? Yup.
Problems? Nope.
Do problems ever occur? Yes, of course...but they are rare.I loved getting rid of the contact lenses...had it done about 5 years ago and still am happy I did it.
I had the same fears when deciding to have LASIK, I mean they are your EYES! But, it was the BEST money I ever spent. Little things like being able to read your alarm clock or being able to swim without worrying if you are going to lose a contact! I used LASIK Plus and I was very happy with them. You can pay a little extra and if your eyes ever get worse, you can go in for a touch up. Like I said, best investment ever, you will not regret it!
Had it done about 4 yrs ago. The best money I ever spent. Too be able to ditch the contacts for good was priceless. Before you do it just make sure you research the office you are thinking of doing it at, When I did it I researched the different places %26 went for the best reputation. It cost a bit more, but it gives you piece of mind. Some people get one eye done at a time. Most do both at the same time; that's up to you. I have had NO Problems at all. Good Luck with it.

Laser Therapy For Pain Relief?

Hi,Could someone help me out by providing a simple explanation in about 2-3 sentences only how laser stimulation works for pain relief. How does the laser stimulation actually relieve pain?It would be greatly appreciated since i can only find very long and very technical explanations.ThanksRich
Answer:
The premise of laser therapy is that it uses light energy to excite cells within the tissue to stimulate healing by increasing cellular activity and increasing circulation. I have performed laser therapy before and saw some results but not consistently. There are many other treatments that I do that yielded much better results.
I have not heard of laser therapy for pain, but (like you) did a quick search on Yahoo, and came across a lot of highly technical jargon in there! It looks as if there are some rather expensive devices and practitioners on the market - but seems some Physiotherapists do it - make sure you go somewhere reputable, and don't get ripped off. It seems this is a non-heating laser (unlike the ones used to seal blood vessels in surgery, do eye surgery etc.) that somehow stimulates the body's cells to repair themselves faster than normal, good for sports injuries or joint pain..
Perhaps it is similar to a TENS machine, but using laser instead of electrical stimulation. Whatever your problem is, do make sure the laser treatment is likely to work for that! I heard of a guy called Randy McKenzie who had a TENS machine somehow implanted into his spine to relieve severe pain..even this did not help much, BUT he then had a miraculous healing at a Christian crusade in Abbotsford BC, and there is a video available - I could tell you where to get it. I hope you find relief anyway - Bless u!

Laser eye surgery is there a lot of aftercare?

Answer:
Unable to comment personally, but this is from the website below: 'As your eye heals the vision may fluctuate during the first three weeks after surgery. It's not unusual to notice:
Occasional blurring of vision.
Greater sensitivity to light.
A gritty, irritated feeling.
Some difference in sensation or vision between eyes.
However, the vision should always be at a reasonable level during this healing phase. Keep in mind these simple guidelines while your eye is recovering:
Do not use eyedrops other than those prescribed by us.
Do not rub your eye vigorously for one month following surgery.
No body-contact sport for 4 weeks following surgery.
No swimming for at least one week (ocean or pool).
No eye make-up for one week.
Take extra care, for one week, when bathing or washing your hair to avoid getting soap or shampoo in your eyes.
Do not drive until your vision is adequate for both day and night. This usually takes about two days. Your vision will be tested the morning after surgery, and you will be advised.
You will need to have periodic aftercare visits. These generally take place at 1-2 weeks, one month, three months, and six months after surgery. These visits are included in the surgical fee. Alternatively, you may make appointments with your local optometrist or ophthalmologist if that is more convenient for you.' You might like to visit the second website too, as it gives lots of information on the subject.
Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.http://www.forerunnershealthcare.com...
Hope this helps.
i have never studied it / i have had two cataracts removed and lots of other things and i am receiving treatment at eye hospital now but i am adamant i will never have laser treatment on my eyes i regard it dangerous at this stage perhaps later it might be OK

Large, Dark, Painful Bruises Appearing Suddenly Without Explanation?

My roommate is coming home with massive, reddish/black bruises that span the back of her arms, and are now on her legs. They hurt but she has no idea where they're coming from... she doesn't knock or bump into anything (and no, it's not someone abusing her!). Her mother has her scared about 'Deep Vein Thrombosis' but she doesn't have any of the symptoms - so... What's causing it? Why? What can we do about it?
Answer:
If she seriously doesn't know what caused them, Get to the er or a after-hours clinic right away. This may be what they call purpera which are the first sign of meningococcemia. If caught immediately, there is a good chance of treatment with antibiotics. Within hours, you can start losing limbs. Within 24 hours, you are very likely to die.
she could contact her doctor and have her clotting factors and CBC tested. is she taking alot of Nsaids (advil, aspirin, alleve)? she needs to stop, if so.
Better get some blood work done sounds serious Liver damage maybe?
go 2 a doctor!! r u sure she isnt bein abused??
she should see a doctor asap
something is not right with your friend
sometimes people who are abused are scarred of telling people.
but if you are sue it is not that, it could be iron defficiency, i used to get small bruises on my arms and legs from that..
she should go to the doctor and get a blood test done. There could be some other medical reason also...
she needs to see dr right away it is a sign of many serious illnesses including cancer!!

Large Knee Tendons (inside and outside of knee)?

My husband has been at the same job 8 years. He works for a large cable company and does some pretty heavy lifting and twisting. 1 year ago he started having knee pain. He went to his normal doctor and he said that he has gout. He changed his diet and the pain was getting worse. He is now in BAD pain at work and went to see the workmen鈥檚 comp doctor. He stated that it has been work related and put him through 4 weeks of physical therapy and now ordered an MRI.He received the results today and the doctor said that is now NOT work related and that he has enlarged or "stretched" tendons on both sides of his knee. HE said that this is what is causing the pain and that it must have been a work related injury. My husband has been at this job for almost 10 years! How can he say that it's not due to his job? He is ordering MORE physical therapy (which hasn't helped)
Has anyone had this condition or does anyone know anything about this condition? HELP!!
Answer:
There really aren't any tendons on the side of the knee...except for the iliotibial band...perhaps you are referring to an over stretching of the ligaments...this can lead to instability of the knee. If there was not a specific injury, this may be hard to proove that it was work related...much akin to proving that arthritis or other chronic conditions are work related as they happen in many people. He may be a candidate for ligament reconstruction, but this would be best advised by a surgeon. I would definetely hire a work comp lawyer if your husband is considering surgery since this would be difficult to prove as a work comp case. If he is not a candidate for surgery, bracing is an option which should help compensate for the lax ligaments...and possibly even allow them to tighten. This should increase the stability of the joint and possibly decrease his pain. These types of injuries do take a long time to heal...I would definetely go through another 4-8 weeks of therapy before considering any surgery.
CALL A LAWER SOWE THE CABL ECOMPANY AND GO TO A SURGENY
First, if it was initially reported as a work related injury, I do not know that they can change this diagnosis.Enlarged or inflamed tendons sounds like tendinitis or tendinosis. Stretched ligaments, different from tendons, (medial collateral or lateral collateral ligamnets) on the side of the knee are usually caused by trauma. This type of injury usually comes on over time, becoming progressively worse. The best medicine for this is rest. Can your husband perform some other service for the company for two weeks or so? The therapy may take longer to work if your husband is still performing the types of activity that aggravated it in the first place.
Usually, a physician will prescribe some type of anti-inflammatory meds as well as therapy.

Lamisil is so expensive!!?

My doc called in Lamisil for me today and it is $462! OMG! It is not covered by my insurance. The doc is working on finding something effective but cheaper. Anyone had this same problem or anyone know of something that cures nail fungus besides lamisil? Thanks.
Answer:
Lamisil is not covered by almost all insurance companies because it is considered "cosmetic" medication...there really aren't any other ones besides that one out there...call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask them which ones are covered..or ask the pharmacy to try a prior authorization...they'll know what that is...hope this helps
I know--they are nuts!
And your doctor will earn a BIG commission on prescribing that to you!I started using a natural product for my nail fungus a couple weeks ago called No Fungus Among Us Nail Care - Nail Saver.
Its very very affordable and its helped with my nail already!
I was experiencing pain in my toe along with a foul smelling liquid and the nail was detaching from the nail bed, also nail discoloration.
Only thing thats left to go away is the nail discoloration-all other symptoms are GONE!
It takes time to rid of nail fungus, even with the expensive prescription garbage that the doctors push on us.
But I think my results so far were pretty quick!
Read more about it including others' testimonies here:
http://www.mothernature.com/shop/detail.(I ordered it from this site-very trustworthy and professional w/ fast delivery)
There aren't any other oral medications for nail fungus and there is not a generic available yet. You might try contacting the drug company that makes it, sometimes they have rebates.Good Luck

Knuckle cracking?

does it really harm ur hands
Answer:
Yes it leads to arthitis. When you crack your knuckles your popping the bursa sac that is betwwen your joints to protect them and keep the bones from rubbing together. If you pop them to much eventually they won't come back and you'll get arthritis or have what happened to me and your finger joints will lock up and not move well or at all anymore. And it's painful.
It can it can cause arthritis in hands and knuckles if doing too much.
yes it does, it causes inflammation around the joints when done regularly. I am always telling my daughter not to do it, she is down syndrome and its like a habit for her. Now i massage her hands alot and it distracts her in a soothing way and she doesn't do it so often now.

KNOTs on my LEGS!?

I ran 2 miles with my friend whos really fast at the track today... yesterday i ran 1 mile slower... but now my legs feel like they are tied in knots and hurt like you know what... what can i do to ease my pain? BTW they are on the back of the calves!
Answer:
knuckles tothe spots hurts for a while but will relieve the knots. just massage your leg with your knuckles in the bath tub with warm water. I B profen is a big help too.
ibuprofin and a heating pad is about all you can do. don't run tomorrow. give your legs a break. if you have someone to rub your legs for you that would be great too.
rest..or try stretching your legs but do it carefully
Leg cramps stink! I know what you are going through. The first thing you want to do is up your potassium level. You can do this by eating a banana. Next you want to rub your legs. I have found that rubbing my legs in small circular motions followed by rubbing down the length of the leg will get the blood flowing and allow the knots to loosen up. After you have done that, draw a bath of water as warm as you can stand it and add some Epsom Salt. This will really help relax your muscles. Last but not least, rub some muscle rub (tiger balm is my favorite) on your calves before you go to bed. Make sure to wear something like sweats to bed so that your legs stay warm. Make sure you drink a lot of water too! Dehydration causes major cramps!! Hope you feel better!
Well I had that problem as well. So I asked my doctor and he told me to drink some pickle juice. I kno it seems odd but it really works. Something about the vinegar of some sort helps cramps and knotting feelings. If you dont like pickles then I dont know what to tell you maybe some epsome salt in water then take a cloth and soak it and lay it on your leg.

Knot on my shin...?

I kicked at my friend and he pulled up his leg and my shin hit hard on the bottom of his shoe, not more than maybe 30 mins ago when I felt my leg I noticed 2 knots or bumps that are about the diameter of a nickle, n if they're touched they hurt like a bruise would, jus wonderin if I should b concerned if it's a blood clot or sumtin serious or if it's jus slight swelling, I'm told if it was a blood clot I'd know it cuz I'd experience very painful cramps in my leg, but no one here has any medical knowledge haha, anyone got any ideas? Thanx
Answer:
well ken don't u worry it usually happens when u r hurt on ur shin by something or the other. If u play soccer you might be knowing it that when u play the game without shinguards and ur heart then nothing happens for a certain period of time then after some time suddenly the injured area starts swelling a little bit and it hurts a lot.it may even turn a little bluish black in colour.
don't u worry it generally takes 2 to3 days to get back on the track.
my best wishes.
then also if u think that u r havin some serious injury pls refer to a doctor ASAP.
take it like a man
Probably hematomas, collections of blood under the skin. Put some ice on it to reduce the swelling and get ready for a big, ugly bruise to develop over the next few days!
Nothing to cause alarm the raised area of a bump or bruise results from blood leaking from these injured blood vessels into the tissues as well as from the body's response to the injury.
You're probably going to die horribly from the injury.

Knot on inner elbow?

My husband told me he has a knot on his inner elbow. He said it has been there probably 7-10 years. He said it started out hard like a little b.b. or pebble. He noticed today that it has gotten a little bigger and soft around it. He said if he messes with it, it gets tender. He said he has had an elbow injury in the past. We are making him a doctors appointment to get it checked but I am worried. Does anyone know what it sounds like?
Answer:
Could be spinal fluid coming through the joint. My mom had one of those on her wrist and had to have it removed. If it's still liquid the Dr will just insert a needle and suck the junk out. If it's hardened the Dr will have to perform surgery to have it removed.Best of luck to your husband. I hope he feels better soon!
Probably epicondylitis or a ganglion cyst. I would have an m.d., preferably a bone doc, check him out.I had a ganglion cyst removed, it was in no biggie. I'm a huge wuss and I can tell you it was nothing really. He'll be fine, but he should see an orthopedist.

Knife cut and stitches?

My husband just had a cut in his fingure, we dont have insurance so we cant go to the ER, there was white things coming out after cleaning it!! if any one can help us please do so. we went to walgreens pharmacy and the guy that works there said he is not sure whether or not it is big enough to need stitches so we just got Neosporin to prevent the infection. Please help!!
Answer:
the ER has to treat you regardless of whether or not you have insurance-it's the law.he will need stitches if he has any of the following-there is fatty tissue coming out of the cut (this could be the white things you were seeing)
-you can spread the cut apart more than 1/2 inch apart and can see inside
-it continues to bleed or took a long time to get to stop bleedinghospitals now have special superglue for skin called dermabond that they use on mild cuts to seal them closed. this stuff is great-it is reabsorbed by the skin once the cut has healed. if they use stitches-they will be in for 7 days before dissolving on their own once the cut is healed.it's really important to get the stitches if he really does need them. if he doesn't-the cut could not heal properly, creating a permanent and ugly scar. in addition-infection could get inside his finger and cause horrible problems and more medical care (which costs more money).wash the cut well with warm water and soap. wrap it well with a washcloth and report to the er if he has the above symptoms i listed.if not-then wash well with water and soap. apply a thin layer of neosporin and wrap the finger in gauze wrap (found at any drugstore). keep it clean and dry, changing the gauze at least twice a day.
he can take ibuprofen (motrin) for pain and swelling if not allergic. take 200-400mg every 6 hours as needed but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours
What are the white things that are coming out? Are they tendons maybe? You should go to a doctor. That's my advice.
i'm not sure about the white thing that coming out.. but if that just a cut that u think didn't effect nerves or tendon etc, just a cut , try get tumeric.. u can try fresh tumeric or just tumeric powder.. for fresh tumeric, just hit it and place on the wound then bandage it, if u use tumeric powder, mix the powder with drops of water before u place on the wound part.. u don't really need stitches using these tumeric, but it's really painful for the 1st time u try it. if u used it till the cut close back, there'll be no scar.try it..

Knees? ahh there suckky?

Answer:
You might have what they called runner's knee. Make an appointment with your doctor now and check in with him/her but before that, make sure you ice and elevate the knee every time it starts hurting and only if you have to take some Advil for the pain.Hope that helps

Knee twitching?

My leg close to ma knee and it keeps twiching wat could be the problem i need help it drives me mad lol it feelss od arkward
Answer:
It sounds like it could be a muscle spasm. The way to get a muscle spasm to relax is to one relax the leg and then massage it. Sometimes heat or ice will also help. You need to get the muscle in the knee to relax so that the spasm will stop. When you have tense muscles often the muscles will twitch. Try these and if that does not work then either wait till it stops on its own or go to the doctor.

Knee surgery?

I am 19 and had 1 surgeries for my dislocated my knee, and tore my ACL, LCL, and MCL and had to have the tendon on the front on my knee used to help restore the tendon on the side of my knee.A second surgery to rerepair my shattered meniscus, acl and MCL. My doctor said the best excercise for me is to water aerobics, and restricted me to no speed walking, excersise bikes, or treadmills. and I have had third opinions from doctors and they have said the same thing!! HOW FRUSTRATING! Anyway has anyone gone through this process? any advice?
Answer:
I know you probably don't want to hear this, but follow their advice. I had two knee surgeries on the same knee when I was 16. I am now 34 and had to have surgery on the other knee about 2 years ago. I did not follow dr.s orders and have reaped what I sewed. Not fun. It gets worse when you get older, especially when arthritis sets in. Seriously, for your own future well being, do what they say. Best wishes~
I've had knee problems, but not as bad. Stick to water aerobics. try to stay slim, the less weight you put on your knees, the better.
By the very fact that, in spite of getting opinions from three doctors who have all told you the same thing, you've nevertheless opted to pose the same question to ByeDr.com you're an accident waiting to happen but this time, it will be even worse than what you've already been through. This is an indication that you're not willing to accept the advice of the people you're paying to advise you even though they have the skills and experience to provide you with the best possible answers. If you ever wish to regain any semblance of a working knee, you'd best start by regaining some semblance of intelligence and stop resisting their counsel or you will foolishly get someone to tell you otherwise and end up destroying your knee for good.Just some friendly advice from someone who spent a career in the health care system and can spot a disaster in the making.....and if you don't heed their advice, get measured up for some crutches now!!

Knee surgery?

I have been battling a bad knee since 1994, 13 years old. I had hurt it from making sharp turns while rollerskating. But bad knees are also genetic in my family as well. My point I am trying to make is I was at the doctors office yesterday and she told me I have two options, stop doing things that I love or have knee surgery which will require therapy for it. The thing is, is that I have given up everything I already loved doing, working out, playing sports, dancing ect. Would it really make any difference if I had surgery on it? Or do I have any other better options to avoid surgery? I ask this on here because my doctor couldnt give me any other advise. I really want to do everything I was doing before.
Answer:
There are always things you can do to strengthen your knees. Having knee surgery isn't going to help if you still keep straining your knee, plus not all knee surgeries go well...Is your cartilage gone, or is something else the problem?Additional vitamin C could help; it builds the collagen, the glue, that helps hold joints together. Check at your local health food store for the best form and amount for you.Think about working with a physical therapist and acupressurist to strengthen your knee. If you are over weight, you need to lose weight to take pressure off your knee joints. You may also not be walking correctly. Once someone injures a body part, they often change posture to protect that part and that can lead to bad walking posture which can further injure the knee. Look in your yellow pages for someone skilled in the Alexander Technique. Also, a craniosacral massage therapist may help you. Also check into Hellerwork and Jin Shin Do Bodymind acupressure.Good luck!
Hi. My name is Shae, and I have a healing practice in Canada. I am not a doctor. However, I have had wonderful results with knee issues. First, have you tried foot reflexology? THis can be extremely benefiacial for realigning your entire body. Make sure that you see a highly trained reflexologist as there are some out there who just do piddly massage and not true reflexology, ask around or check out Touch Point Reflexology out of Vancouver B.C. this is a teaching program and they can probably put you onto a good practitioner in your area. Also try acupuncture. Deep tissue massage to the thighs and calves can really make a difference for realigning the whole leg. And finally, read up on Louise Hays' book "You can heal your life". She has some wonderful ideas about why certain body parts become dis-eased. Hope this helps, Shae.
i am always truly amazed at some of the "answers" that people provide here.in any case, it really depends on what is wrong with your knee. unfortunately, most of the structures in the knee, ligaments (ACL, PCL, LCL), meniscus (fibrocartilage sitting between the femur %26 tibia), cartilage, do not heal at all. so for the most part would require surgery; and most can be done arthroscopically (through a couple of small holes).ligaments usually would require reconstruction (ie taking tendon/ligament from somewhere else on your knee or cadaveric graft). meniscus only has a limited area with blood supply and healing capacity so most often the torn portion gets debrided/cut out, some can be repaired (for your age it is best to be repaired if possible). cartilage is really problematic. there are some surgical options, however, most are not great.the worrisome part of this is that if the injury is really from over 13 years ago, then damage probably have been incurring over all this time as well. if whatever is broken/not working isn't taken care of, there are long term implications like pain, instability of the knee, stiffness/less motion, arthritis, etc.your surgeon obviously hasn't explained things well enough as to why you should have surgery. i'd call your orthopedic surgeon and have him/her clarify things a bit.good luck
I had surgery on both my knees in 2003. Honestly, it was 100% worth it. My knees were junk and needed some work to correct years of wear and tear. I had them done at the same time. I'd have to say that 4 weeks out of surgery, I was back to 80% strength in each knee. I was religious about my physical therapy and even did extra work to get my knees back to 100%. Today, it's like I never had any problems at all with them. I walk 4 miles a day and swim 3 miles a day with no problems. I'm a restaurant manager and am on my feet most of the night. They do not swell or retain fluid. I'd seek a respected orthopedic doctor and get his opinion. After having surgery on my knees, I realized what I was missing before. I can do everything better now that I'm 35 than what I could do when I was 28. Hope that helps you out, but the only regret I have is that I didn't get it done sooner!

Knee strengthening exercises?

I recently suffered a minor knee injury it has left my left knee feeling slightly weak. What are some good exercises to condition my knees so something like this will not happen again?
Answer:
I was told to strengthen the knee to use an eliptical trainer which I do now every other day and it really worked wonders. I had a full on kneecap fracture and due to this I am almost back in marathon shape
very light leg extensions. but don't do them yet. wait until you feel no pain.
squats
The first thing you should do (if you haven't already) go see a doctor. A doctor will make sure it's OK to do the exercises and send you to a physical therapist who will show you which exercises, how many of each to do and how often you should do the exercises.

Knee Problems?

Okay so about at the beginning of the year..actually i cant remember exactly when but anyways i was at a basketball camp and i fell on my knee pretty hard and before then it hadnt given me much problems. about 3 hours later we were just finishing test driving a car when i noticed my knee had swelled up and it looked like there was a baseball under my skin it was really high. so my mom took me to the emergency room and once we got into the place they took xrays and applied ice and just said i had blood/water under my knee (i cant remember exactly which) well ever since then while participating in ANY activity gives me great pain in that knee (actually more recently its gotten worse) i also feel at least 2 "chunks" of bone on my knee cap and i can move them around (at least i think its bone) they are about the size of a BB maybe smaller but i am wondering is this causing my knee pain? what can they do to fix this? can they fix this? should i see my doctor?Thank you so much
Answer:
I always answer people' knee questions on here as I just had my 13th surgery so I am a seasoned knee injury veteran. And I will tell you what I tell everyone else. See an orthopedic (bone and joint) doctor. He/she will discuss your symptoms with you and take xrays and an mri scan. The xrays will probably show nothing, but the mri will give you your answers. The knee is a very complicated joint with 4 main ligaments and tons of cartilage including the meniscus. People on ByeDr.com will give you their best guess and say "I had the same thing!" but you will never know without getting images of your knee taken. I am very knowledgeable on the subject, but I wouldn't begin to tell you what is going on without looking at images of your knee. So please, see a doctor and get it checked out.the earlier the better.you do not want to be like me and have 13 surgeries and huge scars...trust me. Good luck to you.
Yes, you should see your doctor and get the chunks explored and removed. Don't neglect and restrict your movements.

Knee problems?

IS IT TRUE THAT As women grow(Like during the teenage era) That their knees might not grow in the same pace forcing the knee to tilt a bit and hurt really bad. This is wrong with me, the doctor told me it happens a lot with women. But they only tested my right knee since that's the one that's been hurting and now my left knee is hurting too.can it be the same problem with my left knee also? It's been hurting for about a week now
Answer:
I was told the same thing.
I found out that the reason was that there is scar tissue under the knee cap that is what was wrong/Good Luck though.
Since your Right knee was the problem, that's why most of the exam was to that area, however both should have been looked at. A condition called Osgood's Slaughter Disease can cause pain in the area as well. If this continues, return to your Health Care Provider, and ask for X-Rays to be taken of the area.

Knee problems please help?

Well since my parents won't take me to a doctor i need to konw whats going on with my knee's here's my syptoms: I'll walk around for a little bit and if i skip or trip or even bump my leg or add pressure to it my knee's buckle, and then sometime's they buckle randomly(buckle meaning extreme pain and i fall down from it). Now i'm not in any athletics right now ( i was earlier this year but i stopped due to ankle injury) SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME! IT'S GETTING WORSE
Answer:
Guessing from your symptoms it sounds like patellar tendonitis- get some pre-wrap and wrap it under your involved knee 10-15 times (not too tight). Roll it up and make sure it covers that soft soft in the front of below your knee. This will relieve the pressure on the tendons connected to your kneecap.
It sounds like your tendon may be stretched, or it could be torn. If you are in extreme pain, you need to be seen by the doctor. This could cause serious complications if not looked into. He may only prescribe ice and therapy, but that helps, believe me.
I play soccer n now i do i college and I have the same problem and have had it for a while now.. I had an MRI and in my case its just water on the knee if u get bruises it may be water on the knee which isnt a big deal but still have it looked at
Chances are you have a torn meniscus or ACL. Why won't your parents take you to a doctor?

Knee popping? Why and how do I make it quit?

I'm 26 years old, pretty healthy-no unusual aches or pains, but my knee started popping yesterday when I go upstairs. It doesn't hurt, but it feels "tired". It is only one knee. It doesn't pop when I walk only when I bend it for stairs or squatting down. I walk a lot on cobblestone, which I'm not really used to. I live in the UK, but I'm from the US and we don't have cobblestone roads. I also don't take calcium, don't drink milk, and have really cut back on cheese for the last 5 months (I don't really like British cheese). I'm going to buy some calcium today-will that help?
Answer:
E. vitamin multi-vitamin and fishoiltabletsshould do the trick++ a trip to your local doctor to be sure to be sure, and after looking at your "DICKY KNEE" ask if those vitamins would be good for you in your case!! get it checked just in case, i am a candidate for 2 complete knee reconstructions, if my doc as much as touching my knees again and does the usual kneebends while poking around, got part of both kneecaps missing and bone part worn away so i can literally slide in and out of the joints i had dislocated my knees to many times and 1 or 2 walked for wekks with partial dislocation of my knees so of to the doctor unusual surface for you to walk on might just have done something nasty or not so!!
Patello-femoral pain syndrome. In other words, it is a mechancial issue involving your patella (knee cap) and femur (large thigh bone). When you bend your knee, there is a groove that your kneecap moves in. When not tracking properly, you can get a pain or popping under your patella. Sometimes you irritate the cartilage that covers the backside of your patella. Severe cases involve loose bodies or bone chips. For most people it is a matter of working on simple thigh exercises to restore muscle tone and balance. Avoid full squats, lunges, or excessive stairclimbing. Only do strengthening exercises in a pain-free range of motion.Plenty of info on the web.
